I began emailing invoices and signed contracts more than 25 years ago. That any institution, especially one I have arranged paperless with, would ever send me snailMail is just annoying.
I have nothing against them offering snailMail as an option to people who want snailMail, but I don’t. Moreover, when they inevitably resort to “privacy” as a concern, I have to say that imagining that sending something through the postal system, then leaving it in my mailbox, outside, for me to find… eventually, imagining that is more private or secure is nuts.
I arranged both my house purchase and my mortgage in 1994 by fax, never having seen the person who handled that. No one should be put in a position where they have to monitor a mailbox because an organization trapped in the 1980s won’t automatically use a modern method of communication.
